Brazil Bids Farewell to Pele, the Legendary “King of Soccer”
Brazil Fans and people who care about Pele have gathered at the Vila Belmiro stadium in Santos to say goodbye to him. Pele died peacefully at the Albert Einstein Hospital on December 29. Since 2021, he has been getting treatment for colon cancer. Doctors say that Pele died because of problems with several organs and a side effect of his cancer.
On January 2, a hearse carrying Pele’s body left the hospital. So people could say their last goodbyes at the Vila Belmiro stadium. The body of Pele will be taken through the streets of Santos, passing in front of the house where his mother, Celeste, who is 100 years old, lives.
