Under two minutes remaining into the third quarter, the Laker guard went from a pump fake under the basket, forcing Collins to jump. On his way down, Collins’ elbow hit the guard’s forehead, which made Westbrook bleed profusely.

Collins had a flagrant foul and was thrown out of the game. Westbrook, on the other hand, received a technical for trying to attack the Spurs center.

With tape on his head, he then shot free throws before heading to the locker room. He eventually returned in the fourth quarter, helping Lebron James lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a win.

According to the Lakers’ management, Westbrook was lucky not to receive any sutures from the laceration on his forehead.

“Initially, reaction [obviously] is to hop up and kind of see what’s going on. But once I [was] bleeding all over the place, I was able to calm down and take care of that, and I moved forward,” he said during the post-game interview.

The shooting guard added, “Yeah, it was fine. [The] doctor looked at it and closed it up, and I came back out.”

Collins explains after the Westbrook bloodied incident

Collins explained after the match that it was not his intention to try and injure Westbrook.

“I shouldn’t have jumped on the pump fake, but I did,” he responded to Tom Orsborn’s interview.

He justified that he was in midair and had no control over where his elbow would land. As a result, Westbrook bleeds after getting elbow-smacked on the forehead.

Collins scored 12 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes coming off the bench before his ejection.

Fortunately, Westbrook’s injury is not worse than expected, especially with Anthony Davis out with a calf contusion. If the Lakers’ shooting guard goes down, James and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers may have a hard time getting good odds at OKBET.

Last season, Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.
