The National Basketball Association’s season ends every year in the Spring with a tournament called the NBA Playoffs. Most of the time, the playoffs start mid-April and go on until mid-June. The top eight teams from both the Eastern and Western conferences compete in the playoffs. Teams from each conference try to eliminate the other teams until the last team from each conference plays the previous group from the other conference in the finals.

NBA Guide Positions

In the NBA, there are five main positions: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center. Positional flexibility is essential in today’s league; most players spend much time in more than one spot. Here is a quick list of what jobs involved in their positions:

Point Guard

The guard at the court’s point is usually the minor player. They are in charge of the offense and are usually the most important player on their team. The point watch usually brings the ball up the court after the other team scores.

Shooting Guard

The shooting guard plays with the point guard in the “backcourt.” As the name suggests, they often score the most goals for their team. One of the essential parts of their job is that they must shoot a lot. Combo guards are shooting guards whose teams ask to bring the ball up the court.

Small Forward

This position has many responsibilities, such as scoring, shooting, grabbing rebounds, and passing, requiring many skills.

Power Forward (PF)

Most of the time, power forwards are more prominent than small forwards but not as big as centers. In the past, power forwards was bigger, slower players who did many of the same things as centers, like grabbing rebounds, playing defense, and scoring in the paint. However, in today’s NBA, they are expected to shoot more from the outside and show more range and athleticism.

Center

The center is usually the most significant player on an NBA team. They play near the basket and are counted on to set screens and score inside on offense. On defense, they guard the basket and stop shots. Centers are almost always the best at getting the ball back. In today’s NBA, centers are becoming more versatile on both ends of the court.
