OKBet FIFA World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is the best thing that can occur in football. Even if all of the games in the UEFA Champions League are of the same quality, it can’t take away from the prestige that comes from its long history and the fact that one team represents a whole country. No other game can contrast with the FIFA World Cup, which was watched by more than three billion people worldwide, and one billion people watched the final.

Background

Before the World Cup began, the essential football tournament was the one that was part of the Summer Olympics. But in the 1920s, the game was becoming more professional, which went against the spirit of the Olympics. So, FIFA, a government group, made plans to organize a World Cup. On May 26, 1928, it was made official that the first edition would be held.

All of the World Cup games

Since Uruguay hosted the first official World Cup in 1930, the tournament has been held every four years (except for an interruption due to the Second World War). In the late 1800s, when there were not many national teams, there were unofficial World Cups. Before 1930, the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy was a kind of unofficial “world cup.” Held in 1909 and 1911. Aside from that, the Summer Olympic football games would show which countries had the best teams before 1930. But only amateur teams played in the Olympics. The World Cup then turned into the “genuine article.”

1930 First World Cup

The first FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men’s national association football teams, occurred in 1930. From July 13 to July 30, 1930, it happened in Uruguay. FIFA, the international organization in charge of football, chose Uruguay as the host country because it was the 100th anniversary of Uruguay’s first constitution, and the Uruguay national football team had won the football title at the 1928 Summer Olympics. All the games were held in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Most of the games were held at the Estadio Centenario, which was built for the tournament.

There were 13 teams in the tournament. Seven were from South America, four were from Europe, and two were from North America. Because it is hard to get to South America, few European teams chose to participate. Put each team into one of four gatherings. What’s more, the champ of each gathering continued toward the semi-finals. The first two World Cup games happened simultaneously, and France and the US both won. France beat Mexico 4–1, and the US beat Belgium 3–0. Lucien Laurent of France scored the first goal in World Cup history, and American goalkeeper Jimmy Douglas kept the first official “clean sheet” in the tournament.

What Happened in the 2020 FIFA World Cup?

For sponsorship reasons, the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup was called the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020, presented by Alibaba Cloud. It was the seventeenth release of the FIFA Club World Cup, an international football tournament between the league champions of the six continental confederations and the league champions of the host nation. Qatar was in charge of the match.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was moved to 2021. Because would not have chosen the AFC, CONMEBOL, and CONCACAF champions in time. The competition was supposed to happen in December 2020, but on November 17, 2020, FIFA changed the dates to 1–11 February 2021.

At first, there were going to be seven teams in the tournament. But OFC’s representatives from Auckland City dropped out because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine measures that the New Zealand government needed to take. Since there were only six teams, the first round match, which was supposed to take place on February 1, 2021, but was moved to February 4, 2021, was a 3–0 win for the host country’s team, Al-Duhail. They went on to the second round on February 4, 2021.

The Long-wait is Over FIFA World Cup 2022

The largest tournament in the world is going to the middle east for the first time in history. Qatar will have the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Because of the heat, the tournament will start in November this year instead of the usual summer. France wants to defend its title as the best national soccer team in 2018, but groups like Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, and others are likely to stop them.

Before the colossal tournament, there are plenty of stories to tell. After embarrassingly not making it to the 2018 World Cup, the United States is back this year and is in Group B with England, Iran, and Wales. Messi and Ronaldo are back to lead their countries, Argentina and Portugal, in what could be their last chance to win the most prestigious award in sports. When the tournament starts, everyone will be watching them.

Also interesting is that Italy, which just won the 2020 EURO tournament after one of the best runs in the country’s history, did not qualify for the World Cup this time. Italy is usually one of the biggest threats on the international stage, but in November, their colors won’t be seen in Qatar.
